VMworld 2018 – Day 2 Update

“Pioneers of the Possible”

The theme of the General session on day 2 was largely focused on the pivotal role technology plays in society and how the arrival of the digital era and technology adoption have enabled both local and global communities to realize new economic growth possibilities.

Sanjay Poonen, VMware COO dominated the stage with a great panel discussion which included several high-profile guests who all underscored Pat’s message from day-1 on how VMware has become a key player in the new multi-cloud era.

Following the panel discussion, Sanjay was joined on stage by Malala Yousafzai. A Pakistani activist for female education, Oxford student and the youngest person ever awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.  Malala shared her perspective on the challenges that girls face in their communities as well as the bright opportunities to create greater global access to education for all children.

One of the exciting bits of technology news coming out of day 2 revolved around Blockchain Technology and VMware’s entry into this space with the announcement of project Concord, also known as VMware Enterprise Block Chain.
